Guns N Roses are one of the best selling American rock bands of all time. Over 30 years after its release, Appetite for Destruction remains a mainstay in every hard rock fan’s album collection.

We stock some of the most iconic official designs from the band’s history.

Guns N Roses History

Guns N Roses formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985 after Hollywood Guns guitarist Izzy Stradlin and LA Guns guitarist Tracii Guns met singer Axl Rose. They soon recruited Duff McKagan on the bass guitar and recorded a 4 track EP, including future hit “Don’t Cry”.

Before the EP could be released, Tracii Guns left the band following an argument with Rose. Lead guitarist Slash, a former member of Hollywood Guns was hired to replace him.

With the addition of Steven Adler, this marked the band’s “classic lineup”: Axl Rose as frontman and vocalist, Slash on lead guitar, Izzy Stradlin on rhythm guitar, Duff McKagan on bass and Steven Adler on drums.

After just two days of rehearsals, the band played their first show on June 6, 1985, and were quickly signed to Geffen records the following year.

Their debut release, “Appetite for Destruction” was release in 1987, just two years after they initially formed. Although it saw only lukewarm sales at first, it peaked at number 1 on the US charts the following year, due largely to the success of “Sweet Child of Mine”.

This release was followed up by “G N’R Lies” in 1988, which peaked at Number 2 in the US charts. Double album “Use Your Illusion Part I” and “Use Your Illusion Part II” were recorded and released in 1991, topping the album charts and going on to sell a combined 35 million records.

During this time the band became infamous for their drug and alcohol fuelled excess, earning themselves the moniker “The Most Dangerous Band in the World”.

Following the release of covers album “The Spaghetti Incident” in 1993, both Slash and McKagan left the band citing tensions with Axl Rose.

Chinese Democracy & Reunion

After the departure of Slash & McKagan, Axl Rose continued with the band, releasing “Chinese Democracy” in 2008.

More than a decade in the making, it was one of the most expensive studio albums of all time, costing more than $14 million to produce. Although well regarded by critics, the album received lukewarm sales.

In 2016, Slash and McKagan re-joined the band to embark on the “Not in This Lifetime” tour, which spanned 5 continents & grossed over $500 million.
